ES Exhibition Week!

Week 17: December 16 – 18

Exhibition Week!!

What an amazing week! In the midst of being three days away from Christmas break, the heroes demonstrated a huge amount of effort. They not only persevered through their Christmas anticipation, but they also focused on going after their session goals and finalized their preparations for their exhibition. Talk about rigorous hard work and grit in the midst of so much distraction!

Thank you to everyone who was able to come out to the exhibition! The hard work of the heroes radiated from their performance. The joy of their faces was delightful to see and experience because it demonstrated their intrinsic satisfaction in all the effort, energy, time, and care that they have devoted the past two and a half weeks.

At the exhibition, the heroes shared some of the Bible verses they have been memorizing. The passages they shared connect with telling people about the Gospel. I encourage you to memorize them too! John 3:16, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Hebrews 13:5, Ephesians 2:8-9, and 1 John 1:9.

The heroes shared their spiritual journeys and testimonys. Praise God for their salvation and the stories the Lord is writing in their life. They are finding their calling to change the world!

In the “Everything” skit, performed to the song “Everything” by Lifehouse, we see God creating humans and showing them his beautiful creation in the Garden of Eden. God and “Girl’s” relationship is beautiful.

The problem comes with sin and worldly desires. The distractions of sin harm “Girl’s” relationship with God, and sin separates “Girl” from God.  Some of the things that got in the way during the heroes’ skit were “worldly relationships,” “money,” “social media,” and “gossip.” John 3:16, Romans 3:23, and Romans 6:23.

Finally, after being hurt and broken, “Girl” decides that God is all she wants. She struggles to go to God, but sin tries desperately to keep her away.

Because sin is separating “Girl” from God, God sends his one and only son to earth to take our place on the cross and bridge the gap between us and God. Jesus Christ died, taking our sins upon himself, and now we can be healed if we confess we are a sinner, believe Jesus died for our sins, and accept Jesus’ invitation to have him come into our heart and follow him. When we do this, we are washed clean, and we receive a new heart. Our relationship with God is restored because when God looks at us, he sees Jesus, who died in our place even though he is holy and blameless. Therefore, we are adopted as God’s children! 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Hebrews 13:5, Ephesians 2:8-9, and 1 John 1:9.

With sin defeated, God and “Girl” have a restored and beautiful relationship.

1 Corinthians 3:5-7 What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”

Have you asked your hero:

  • What are you most proud of this quest?
  • What is one thing that you would do differently from the exhibition?
  • Were there any goals from this past session that you did not reach? What prevented you from reaching those goals?
  • What goals for next session would you like to set in your programs?
  • What books would you like to read over break?
  • What craft/art projects would you like to do over break?
  • What fun activities would you like to do over break?
  • Who could you share the Gospel with over break?
  • Have you asked God what He wants you to put on your “To Do List” today?

Merry Christmas! Have a wonderful break filled with the joy of the Lord!
